World Stationery Day

World Stationery Day

Wednesday 27th April marks a very special day for us and is possibly our favourite day of the year (not including Christmas, of course). Yes, it's World Stationery Day when we all share our passion for all things stationery and the written word.

What better way to mark the occasion than to pledge not to send texts and emails but commit to writing it down instead. We thought long and hard about how best to show our support and decided the best option was to keep it simple and hope that we inspire you to take some action. We've come up with our Top 5 things to do to celebrate World Stationery Day 2016:

  1. Send a postcard. Find the cheesiest postcard you can (the more random the better) and break the ice with someone you've been meaning to contact for a while. It'll make them smile, show you care and re-open the lines of communication. We challenge you to bring so much joy to someone for less than £2.
  2. Say Thank You. Who was the last person to do something nice for you? Send them a sweet card to show them you appreciate it.
  3. Write a letter to your younger self. We're all familiar with the expression 'the benefit of hindsight'. Sit down and pen a letter to the younger you to impart all the wisdom you wish you'd known way back when. Once you're done, pass on the benefit of your experience by sharing this letter with your children, nieces, nephews and godchildren and help them along their own journey.
  4. Stop putting it off. We've all got that task or project we've been meaning to do but kept putting it off. Today is the day to grab your notebook, open up a fresh page and start planning how and when you're going to get it done. Whether it's redecorating the spare room, planning a holiday or starting a daunting work project; writing it down on paper is liberating, clears the mind and is the first step in getting it done.
  5. Make a fun list. To-do lists are great but you know what they say about all work and no play. Why not make a list just for the sake of it and take time to reflect. Your top 10 albums, favourite restaurants or best travel destinations...we guarantee you'll recall memories and experiences that will make you smile. Better still, compare notes with a loved one and see how much you agree!

Whatever you decide to do, take the time to stop and write it down...you'll be glad you did.
