Seven Days of Stationery

Join us as we share our stationery love throughout National Stationery Week (24-30th April 2017).

If you are a stationery fanatic then we’re sure you are aware that National Stationery Week is just around the corner. And for those who are new to the beautiful world of stationery, this a great opportunity for you to get involved in a fantastic week that celebrates just about everything to do with paper, your pen pot or pencil case. So, whether you’re nerdy for notebooks, jolly about journals or have a penchant for pencils, this is the week for you.

A week of celebration

This year, National Stationery Week runs from 24th – 30th April with the main event, London Stationery Show, taking place from Tuesday 25th to Wednesday 26th April (which also happens to be World Stationery Day). We are so excited! The week not only celebrates stationery itself, but campaigns to raise awareness for the love and importance for writing and ensure that it’s kept alive and kicking in our digital world. Whether you’re a budding author or simply a parent who believes modern life doesn’t mean the importance of writing should be forgotten – get involved to celebrate how #writingmatters.

In this week’s blog, we look at what there is to look forward to throughout the week and how to get yourself involved.

How to get involved

If you can’t make the main event in London (sadly it’s a trade-only exhibition), there are some great alternatives to get involved on social media. The centre piece is a daily designated hashtag (#) to help you celebrate your favourite interests with the wider  stationery community via social media.

Let us run you through them so you can join in:

Monday 24th: #PenAndPencilDay

The week kicks off with pen and pencil day, but what does this mean for you? Many of us who share a love for the best notebooks and journals are likely to have the same feeling for the perfect pen or pencil. Show and share your favourite types of pen and pencils using #PenAndPencilDay. We’ll also be celebrating our love with the launch of our very own pencils designed and made right here in the UK. Stay tuned for more details.

Tuesday 25th: #GetCrafty

Time to show your creative side. There are many ways you could get crafty such as creating your own stationery organisers, decorating your journal, or simply drawing your favourite item of stationery! You can share all your creations with your stationery friends, while finding inspiration for your next project using #GetCrafty. And while you’re feeling creative, head-over to our Facebook page on Tuesday 25th where we’ll share a simple story we were once taught to learn how to draw a dog! If you’ve got little ones or are just a big kid yourself, we think you’ll love it.

Wednesday 26th: #WorldStationeryDay

The ‘anything goes’ day of the week (as far as stationery is concerned, anyway). Simply upload an image or link that demonstrates your love for stationery. We hoping to be able to share some details of our new products on this day… all designed and made in the UK.

Thursday 27th: #ThankYouThursday

‘A thank you goes a long way’. We can all forget to say thank you, especially for the smallest things. Here is the perfect opportunity to make someone’s day and show your appreciation for everything they do for you. Why not use one of our Say Nice Things thank you post cards to show your thanks?

Friday 28th: #FountainPenFriday

If you don’t have one already, this is the perfect excuse to purchase a fountain pen. If you do have one, take 5 minutes to write a sentence that sums up why you love a fountain pen and post it on to social media.

Saturday 29th: #SignatureSaturday

No written letter or other correspondence is complete without your signature sign-off. Today is the perfect excuse to work on the perfect signature to end all your beautifully hand written letters! Even a cheque deserves a stunning squiggle!

Sunday 30th: #WriteALetterDay

We rarely show those around us what we really want to say; but when pen meets paper, feelings become real. Why not take the opportunity today to sit down and write a letter to a friend or loved one, with all those thoughts you’ve been meaning to share.

Share the love on social…

As well as the themes for each of the Seven Days of Stationery, this week is also the perfect time to share your love for stationery with others on social media using any of the National Stationery week hashtags below:

…and #saynicethings of course!

It doesn’t matter what it is - if it’s stationery related, this is the week to share it!

And finally, don’t forget to have fun!

There are so many other ways you can get involved and help support National Stationery week. In preparation for the week, why not take part in the National Stationery Week poll here, to find out how your stationery habits compare with others. And if you can’t make London Stationery Show but still want to get involved around London, you can also take part in the Stationery Crawl – here you can find a map of the stationery stores worthy of a visit.

However you choose to get involved in National Stationery week, we hope you have a great time and we’d love to hear any of your ideas on how to celebrate each day of the week and look forward to seeing your posts across each of the Seven Days of Stationery. And don't forget, you can indulge your passion for stationery at the Say Nice Things online store!
